Shreveport council member Levette Fuller likes to throw out Strong Towns vernacular like ROI (Return on Investment) in her comments from the horseshoe in council chambers.

She has penned a grandiose and braggadocious "Afterword" in Charles Marohn’s Strong Towns book. Her comments are as much fantasy as fact.

Fuller and the Strong Town advocates fail to recognize several basic realities:

(a) People will not buy houses in areas they don’t like–no matter how cheap the land or how central the location.

(b) Developers will not build commercial properties in areas they can not lease.

( c) Major businesses will not open up in sparsely populated low income areas.

(d) A city with a large land mass like Shreveport (122 square miles) stretches governmental services on all levels.

These are the hard issues not really addressed in Marohn’s book–or explained by his followers. Its always easier to take the ivory tower outlook versus real world.
