MAYOR PERKINS HAS A BUSY SLATE OF VETERAN’S DAY SPEECHES

It should be no surprise that Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins is in high demand to make Veteran’s Day speeches. The West Point graduate had three combat tours before attending Harvard Law School. Perkins was recently honored at the Tillman Foundation Awards Ceremony on Nov. 8 in Chicago, Ill.

His list of speeches (as of Nov. 5) includes:

• Trinity Baptist Church

• Shreveport Bar Association

• Tillman Award Ceremony

• Syracuse University’s “Veteran’s Program in Politics and Civic Engagement”

• Capt. Shreve High School

• Downtown Rotary

It’s the love and sacrifice of airmen, sailors and soldiers that sustains our country. They come from all walks of life and represent every shade of humanity. Their courage and determination are matched only by their kindness and character. These heroes have been wiling to lay down their lives not just for their fellow soldiers but for future generations. Their hearts are so big, their service so great that they leave us with a debt we can never repay.
