THE PORT PURCHASES PROPERTY ON HARTS ISLAND ROAD
The Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission recently purchased 19-plus acres of property on Harts Island Road near the LSU Pecan Station. The four tracts with residences sold for a total price of $2.835 million.
These tracts are immediately east of a 247-acre tract purchased by the Port in August 2009 for a total price of $2.64 million. This gives the Port total acreage exceeding 266 acres located on the northwest corner of Robson and Harts Island roads.
The Port had previously attempted to rezone the 247-acre tract for industrial use. Objections by the residences along Harts Island Road blocked this effort.
The residents of the tracts purchased have 18-month leases on their properties to allow sufficient time for relocation. The Port's acquisitions are a win-win for the Port and these sellers.
The Port is aggressively pursuing the purchase of additional land to allow for future expansion. These recent transactions further its efforts to remain a top industrial park in northwest Louisiana.
