PASTOR MAYES AND POLITICAL SIGNS IN NEUTRAL ZONES
Pastor Linuss Mayes is heading up a campaign to recall Shreveport council member LeVette Fuller. This is his right as a citizen of the state of Louisiana.
Posting "Recall Levette Fuller" yard signs in the "neutral zone" between a sidewalk and a city street" is not his right or privilege. This city has a right of way over this property and a city ordinance prohibit signs of any nature in this area. Mayes and a cohort were observed on Saturday posting these signs in the neutral area in front of Kings Highway Christian Church at 806 Kings Hwy. This church is located at the intersection of Line Avenue and Kings Highway.
Violating a well known city ordinance to further his political cause discredits both Mayes and his effort. And the posting of these signs in front of a church is seemingly inconsistent with his religious calling.
