John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

HIGHLIGHTS OF TODAY’S SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL MEETING


Councilman James Green postponed the vote on his proposed fireworks ordinance.

Green wants to ban the discharge of fireworks in residential areas of Shreveport.

Green said that he wanted to seek more input on the ordinance  and possibly expand his ordinance.  Many who supported this ordinance also wanted to ban the sale of fireworks in the city limits.

Tabitha Taylor made her first appearance as the interim District A council representative.

She was well prepared for the meeting and handled herself quite well in the discussions. She successfully sponsored  a motion to deny an annexation request of 120 acres.

Taylor lead a prayer for the continued healing and successful treatment of councilman James Flurry.

Several council members had questions about the city’s voluntary furlough program . CAO Henry Whitehorn advised that the deadline was tomorrow (Wed.) and that he would update the council members by end of the week.
