SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL EXPANDS FIREWORK SALES
What started out as an amendment to restrict sales and discharge of fireworks in Shreveport morphed into an expansion of sales at the council’s meeting on Tuesday, June 9.
Now fireworks can be sold, discharged, ignited or exploded to from noon June 16 through 10 p.m. June 20.
This is to commemorate Juneteenth, which is June 19.
Juneteenth is a day commemorating end of slavery in the U.S. and is also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Cel-Liberation Day or the Black Fourth of July.
These new days are added to the July 4 celebration days of noon July 1 through 10 p.m. July 5.
