The anticipated litigation has been filed.
On Tues. July 20 at 9:30 a.m. First Judicial Judge Craig Marcotte will hear the case on the merits.
The plaintiffs are Celcog,LLC dba Strawn's Eat Shop Too, Monjuni's of Portico, Air U Shreveport, The Brain Train and Bearing Service & Supply.
Glenn Langley is counsel for the plaintiffs.
Marcotte also signed a temporary restraining order (TR0) that is immediately effective.
On Mon. July 14, Marcotte will hold a hearing at 9:30 a.m. to decide if the TRO will remain in effect until the Tues. July 20
The TRO enjoins the mayor/city from enforcing the Order, conducting any inspections/searched based on purported violations and taking any action that will result in irreparable harm to the city.
The pleadings assert that the executive order is invalid for many reasons. These include the lack of authority, the lack of due process, equal protection, freedom of expression and the exercise of religion and to assemble, and the right to privacy.
It can be expected that Marcotte's ruling on the merits will be promptly appealed to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
