BODY CAMERA GOAL OF $200,000 CLOSE TO REALITY

The Concerned Business People of Shreveport, led by Roy Griggs, launched a campaign to raise $200,000 for the purchase of body cameras for the Shreveport Police Department (SPD).

At the Tuesday, July 28, meeting of the Shreveport City Council, Griggs presented a check for $100,000 to Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins and SPD Chief Ben Raymond as the first installment.

Since that time, generous donors have contributed another $67,950 — and counting. No doubt this amount will be surpassed at publication deadline on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Donations can be made at any branch and/or the main office of Carter Federal Credit Union. Checks should be made payable to Concerned Business People of Shreveport.

Donor names are not being published at their request.

Let’s see how fast the remaining dollars can be donated to reach the goal of $200,000.

And a big thanks to Griggs and others for initiating this project.
