Current Shreveport City Attorney Mekischa Creal has resigned, effective Aug. 14. Creal is going back to her legal roots at the Caddo District Attorney's office.

Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins will nominate Ronald F. Lattier  to succeed Creal at the Shreveport City Council work session/administrative conference on Mon. Aug. 10. Lattier could be confirmed at the Tues. regular council meeting.

Lattier has a  1981 journalism degree from Northeast Louisiana University (now ULL Monroe) and Southern University Law School in 1989. He  graduated first in his law school class and was a member of the Southern law review.

Latter had a private practice of law in Shreveport for over 30 years. He is now in house counsel with the Caddo Levy Board.

Lattier's private practice focused primarily on insurance defense.  For many years he was a contract attorney with the City of Shreveport handing claims against the city.

Lattier is a member of  the Louisiana Bar Association,  the American Bar Association, and the Harry V. Booth Inns of Court.

Lattier has prior experience on the Mayor's1995-1996 Bond Issue Committee , the Greater Shreveport Development Industrial Executive Committee and the Muliticultural Center of the South board of directors. 

Lattier is widely respected by all local attorneys and he is known for his hard work ethic, candor and fairness.

There's no doubt that he is well qualified to be the next Shreveport City Attorney. 

His confirmation, much like that of Chief Administrative Officer Henry Whitehorn, will bring credibility and stability  to the Perkins' administration.
