LISTEN UP: THE WIND WAS PRESENT, THE RAIN WAS PRESENT, BUT THE STORM WAS GONE!

BILLY ROY WAYNE

During Hurricane Laura, I sat in my dining area looking out the window. I made my coffee stronger than usual that morning.

The fierce winds and heavy rain beat down upon my home. I would be a liar if I told you I wasn’t frightened.

I whispered a prayer as I watched the trees bend, not knowing if my roof or vehicle would survive or even I, for that matter. The neighborhood was silent!

Then, something that I refer to as “amazing” occurred. A bird flew into the driveway and begin to “prance” up and down the yard.

I am no specialist nor expert in any areas dealing with the fowl of the air nor the aspects of a hurricane.

Yet, because of my Christian faith, I could not help but say “Thank you, Lord, this storm is gone.”

I couldn’t imagine a bird being as comfortable in the yard as that bird appeared to be if Laura wasn’t on her way out of the area.

As a matter of fact, the storm’s fierceness ceased about an hour later.

God always has a way of reminding us that He is in control.

Political hypocrisy, COVID 19, and the Lauras in life may cause one to bend and shake. What we must look for is the “small bird” prancing and dancing throughout it all.
