James Flurry resigned his Shreveport city council district E seat after moving out of the district.

The Shreveport City Council will name an interim  council person to serve the unexpired term which ends Dec. 31 of next year.

Persons interested in the appointment must be a resident of District E and registered to vote in that district.

The deadline for submitting resumes and cover letters is 5 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 30.  These must  be mailed to the Council clerk or emailed to Danielle.Ewing@shreveportla.gov. The cover letter must contain the candidate's full name, home address and phone number--and email address should be included.

A special meeting of the council at 9 a.m. on Fri., Dec. 2 is set for council interviews . This is an open meeting.

The format of the interviews will allow each candidate up to ten (10)  minutes to present information on why they should be selected: why want to serve, special skills/experience, perspective on role of council member, and other information.

The Council will then have up to  ten (10)  minutes to make comments and ask questions.

The council will vote at later date to name the interim council person.

The deadline for selection is on or before Dec. 13 of this year. (The council has a regularly scheduled administrative conference/work session that day.) However, the selection meeting could be scheduled before the work session.
