Shreveport's Expo Hall has been a long-time empty box building on Clyde Fant Parkway.

Its useful life as an exposition hall ended with the construction of the Shreveport Convention Center on Market Street.

Expo Hall had a limited renaissance when leased to private individuals for movie productions. But that, too, ended as Hollywood South migrated back to New Orleans after a brief, but busy, stay in Shreveport.

The city has issued an IFB (Invitation to Bid) for the renovation of Expo Hall into an indoor sports complex. The estimated cost for the project is $3.5 million.

The design plans call for a multi-use facility that can be used for six basketball courts or 12 volleyball courts. Featuring a wooden sports floor, the facility can also host wrestling, cheerleading, gymnastics and other indoor activities for large-scale events.

The plans call for a new building entry, concession stands and locker rooms.

A indoor sports complex will be a great boom for the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission recruitment efforts for indoor sports events.
