The Caddo Commission has earned the" stay at home" teddy bear for the state of Louisiana.
By all accounts the Commission is the ONLY elected body in the state that has NOT returned to live meetings.
As the days go by, rational reasons for the refusal of certain Commissioners to travel down to Government Plaza before harder and harder to enunciate much less justify.
Evidently this stay at home malaise only affects Democrats Ken Epperson, Roy Burrell, Steven Jackson, Linn Cawthorne, Stormy-Gage Watts, and Lyndon Johnson.
And it only prevents attending live meetings at Government Plaza.
Several of them have day jobs out of their home that they regularly go to.
Two commissioners have discussed during the meetings out of town trips they have taken this year.
Others have been observed numerous times in retail locations and other places.
There is no doubt that the Democrats have resumed many of their pre-COVID daily out of the house routines.
So why not have live meetings at Government Plaza?
Many, many COVID-19 safeguards have been implemented at Government Plaza. This includes plexiglass between each seat at the horseshoe, regular COVID sanitization and utilization of a sophisticated temperature gauge at the entrance.
The Commission will be a financial sponsor of the upcoming Southern University-Grambling football game next month. A festival has also been planned that weekend at Festival Plaza.
If the Commission has NOT resumed meeting by the game, then the Commissioners who refuse to meet should be house bound the entire weekend.
Needless to say there will be many "eyes" on the look out during this festive weekend.
