MARKETING BLITZ TO OPEN TEXAS CASINOS NOT GOOD NEWS

JOHN E. SETTLE JR.

The Las Vegas Sands has launched a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign on radio and TV to promote its aim of opening a casino in Texas.

Actually, the campaign pushes four casinos: Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Austin.

The TV ads state that billions of tourism and gambling dollars leave Texas each year for neighboring states.

The campaign is clearly aimed at casino gambling/gaming in Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The initiative is titled the Texas Destination Resort Alliance.

The alliance wants the Legislature to allow Texans to vote to build four world-class destination resorts and casinos when it meets in November.

The alliance promises unprecedented investment in Texas communities, a jumpstart to the economy by creating tens of thousands of jobs and funding for vital services like schools and publc safety.
