NO PLANS FOR SOUTHERN LAW SCHOOL TO TAKE OVER DOWNTOWN LIBRARY
Today's Shreveport Times has a front page story "SU law school finds new location."
The downtown Shreve Memorial Library on Texas Street will be the site of the new law school campus. The school will occupy the third and fourth floors of the building.
The article goes on to state that eventually the school "will occupy the entire building."
The story has caused some confusion to readers, especially those who have an interest in downtown Shreveport.
The Caddo Commission and the Shreve Library are in the process of finalizing a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) for the third and fourth floors of the building. The CEA does NOT address expansion to the entire four story building.
The building needs a new roof and refurbishing of the space to be utilized by the law school.
There has not been any recent public discussion of the law school expanding to the full building, which would necessitate relocation of the downtown library.
