WHAT'S IMPACT OF MERGER OF NLCOG AND CDC?

The Northwest Louisiana Council on Governments (NLCOG) is an intergovernmental association of local governments.

NLCOG has many duties, including planning for the I-49 intercity connector and the extension of I-69.

The Coordinating and Development Council (CDC) is a private, nonprofit, member supported corporation promoting economic development.

CDC serves 10 parishes and provides assistance with economic, workforce, transportation, and business development.

Kent Rogers is currently the executive director of NLCOG.

Jack "Bump" Skaggs currentlys serves as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of CDC.

CDC will soon merge into NLCOG.

After the merger Rogers will serve as President and Skaggs will be the CEO.

What impact this will have on the parishes served by CDC and those by NLCOG is yet to be explained.

The merger plans were recently announced to the Bossier Police Jury.

Hopefully the Shreveport City Council and the Caddo Commission, among others, will be briefed on this merger.
