SHREVEPORT FIRE TRUCK CRASH NEEDS TO BE EXPLAINED
John Settle
It's like getting your favorite toy from Santa Claus, and then breaking it the first time you play with it.
The Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) bought a used fire truck from Bossier City.
Within day, the truck was wrecked and damaged to the extent that the vehicle may be a total loss.
Even worse, the front cab passenger was seriously injured.
No explanation has been provided by SFD.
The causes of the accident could be several:
a. operator error
b. mechanical failure
c. evasive action to avoid hitting a person or oncoming vehicle.
The fire truck was returning to the station - not answering an emergency.
Word on the street is operator error caused the accident.
The Shreveport City Council Public Safety Committee meets on Thurs. July 15 at 10:30 a.m.
This question should be addressed at that meeting.
