He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

CADDO COMMISSION SHOULD MOVE MEETING START TIMES TO 3 P.M.

The Caddo Commission meetings, both work sessions and regular meetings, are at 3:30 p.m. In most months the Commission meets four times -- on the first and third weeks.

The Shreveport City Council and the Shreveport Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission meetings commence at 3 p.m. These three bodies meet in the chambers at Government Plaza.

The Commission meetings are, more often than not, very long, as in three hours or longer.

Many Caddo Commission employees, including the Commission clerk’s staff, must attend these meetings. For most of these, their workday on the next day begins at 8 a.m.

The Commission should consider moving the meeting times up 30 minutes. This would benefit both employees and citizens who attend these meetings.

Council members Tabatha Taylor and Jerry Bowman are to be commended for their continuing push to start the bulk trash pickups. Like it or not, in government just like the private sector, the squeaky wheel usually gets the grease. In this instance, Taylor and Bowman were yelling, not squeaking!
