CITY WORKERS AT COUNCIL MEETING TODAY AND TOMORROW SHOULD BE OFF THE CLOCK

The Shreveport City Council meets today - Mon.-and tomorrow - Tues.- at 3 p.m.

The council's agenda includes budget amendments to raise the salaries of all city workers 13%.

In previous council meetings with the proposed pay raise on the agenda the council chambers and anteroom were filled with Shreveport city employees, including first responders.

At one meeting there were five fire trucks and two fire SUVS parked close to Government Plaza and the crews assigned to each were camped out in the building.

Any city employee at the meetings this week, unless top department officials, should NOT be on the city payroll at the time of attendance. In other words, those attending these meeting to make a presence or to lobby should take personal time off to attend.

If city employees are in attendance at either meeting, a council member should inquire about their attendance.

A responsible media should also report aggressively report on any lobbying for additional money while on the city's time clock.
