MAVICE HUGHES THIGPEN SHOULD NOT BE ELECTED TO THE SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL

There have been many questions about the candidacy of Mavice Hughes Thigpen since she announced for the District B council seat.

Initially, many sources have reported that she was recruited to run specifically against Councilwoman LeVette Fuller by those who said Fuller "was not Black enough."

Another major issue is where Mavice actually resides. She has listed the address of her mother on her filing documents. Many do not believe she has resided at that address this year, much less since filing.

And now her actions last Sunday, Oct. 16, raise serious questions as to her ethics, including possible criminal liability.

At approximately 3 p.m., Mavice was filmed on a security camera pulling up two signs of her most formidable opponent, Gary Brooks. These signs were properly located in the yards of residents on Oakdale Circle, with permission of the property owners.

Mavice was questioned on the scene by a third party, and an ugly confrontation ensued that was fueled by her comments.

A report was filed with the Shreveport Police Department over the incident.

Campaign signs are often "pulled" by pranksters, those not supporting the candidate on the sign, or by mistake.

In the last 40 years, there has never been a documented report that a candidate pulled a sign of an opponent. But now there is.

And this video is not a fake video of Mavice like the one circulating with Mayor Perkins being called into a principal's office.

If Mavice is going to pull campaign signs, what other unethical and unlawful actions has she taken since the campaign started, and what else will she do during the remaining days of the race?

And what about if she is actually elected to the council?

Does Shreveport need a council member who has committed unethical and unlawful actions in the process of being elected?
