CADDO VOTERS SHOULD APPROVE ALL SIX BALLOT PROPOSITIONS ON TUESDAY

The Tues. ballot will have six propositions.

Proposition #1 is a library millage. Caddo Parish has one of the best public library systems in the state, if not the best. Shreve Memorial Library has branches throughout the city and the parish. The libraries provide internet service, multiple education tools, meeting rooms and continuing programs for citizen involvement and learning. This is an ad valorem renewal.

Proposition #2 is also a library millage for the criminal justice system. This is greatly needed to keep the wheels turning in the criminal courts in the parish and to provide protections for citizens. This is also an ad valorem tax renewal.

Proposition #3 is a Caddo Parish ad valorem renewal to operate Caddo Correctional Center. Presently this facility is maxed out, in fact over capacity. Maintenance of this facility is vital to public safety.

Proposition #4 is a Caddo Parish ad valorem tax renewal for roads, bridges and drainage. The Parish has an excellent maintenance program that provides the best of these public works for this area. Most

Shreveport citizens utilize parish roads and benefit from their maintenance.

Proposition #5 is a Caddo Parish ad valorem tax renewal to maintain and operate the public health units, animal control and mosquito abatement. These services are provided throughout the parish including the city of Shreveport.

Proposition #6 is a Caddo Parish bond initiative dedicated to the expansion and renovation of the Walter B. Jacobs Nature Park. This great park is a great educational facility that all of the family can enjoy.

All of the propositions are for the public good and worthy of approval. The Shreve Memorial Library and the Caddo Commission are excellent stewards of public funds and these renewals and bond initiative will be managed well by both of these bodies.
