CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST CITY OF SHREVEPORT ON WATER METERS ENDS

In March of 2021 a Shreveport judge awarded nearly $10 million in damages to the plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit alleging the misreading and misbilling of Shreveport water customers. The ligation started in April of 2017.

In Sept, of this year the 2d Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the trial court.

The plaintiffs applied to the Louisiana Supreme Court to appeal the decision. The application was denied yesterday, Dec. 20. This action ends this litigation.

In effect the ruling by the 2d Circuit, which was upheld by the Supreme Court, means that the water meters were correctly read and correctly billed by the city of Shreveport.
