After publication of a column on Southern University Shreveport (SUSLA) and their airplane at the Downtown Airport, yesterday (Thursday) the chief financial officer of SUSLA provided information that provides some insight into why the inoperable plane is still at the airport.
"SUSLA is a state agency and does not have the authority to donate, dispose of, or sell any property without prior approval from the Louisiana Property Assistance Agency (LPAA). LPAA placed the plane located at the downtown airport out for bid. We do not have a timeline on when the plane will be sold and removed but will be contacting LPAA for an update on tomorrow.β
The big question is if the plane will still be at the Downtown Airport on the date that the runaway rehabilitation is to begin.
