CHANDLER NEEDS TO PUBLICLY ADDRESS SOUTH BOSSIER SPORTRAN ISSUE

To say the Sunday headlines of the Shreveport Times bordered on sensationalism may be an understatement:

"Waiting For A Lift”

Are race and class issues playing a part in the new Bossier bus route?"

SPORTRAN chief executive officer Dinero Washington wants to expand free SPORTRAN bus routes to south Bossier (SOBO).

Dinero believed he had the OK from Bossier mayor Tommy Chandler in Dec. After announcement of the bus route expansion, Chandler denied the approval of any SOBO routes.

In Jan. the Bossier council heard a presentation from Washington and public comments.

Council sources report that the decision is solely up to Chandler, and that a decision was made in January.

So where is Chandler on the SPORTRAN proposed route extension?

If a decision has been made weeks ago, why has it not been communicated to Washington and the public?

The Bossier city council meets tomorrow - Tues. at 3 p.m.

One can only hope this issue is resolved before the meeting.
