The Caddo Commission is slated to appoint five members to the Caddo Parish Temporary Planning and Zoning Commission at its meeting on Thurs. of this week.
Commissioners have nominated eight persons for the five-member board.
This Board is needed to hear zoning/variance cases that have been filed under the parish Unified Development Code. This board will hear and adjudicate these cases for final decisions by the full Commission.
Laura Neubert previously served on the Shreveport Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission which had jurisdiction in the city of Shreveport and the five-mile zone adjacent to the city limits in the parish.
Neubert was the only parish resident appointed to that board. She resigned her position in early Jan. after the planning commission jurisdiction was changed to delete the five-mile zone.
She regularly attended meetings of the Shreveport Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission and frequently asked cogent questions.
This prior experience plus her construction background well qualifies her for the new Caddo commission.
With no judgment on the qualifications of the other nominees, there is no doubt that Neubert would be a great selection.
