John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

TANGELA SILVIE NOMINATED FOR SHREVEPORT AIRPORT BOARD

Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins has nominated Tangela Hampton Silvie to the Shreveport Airport Authority Board of Directors. The nomination can be confirmed by the Shreveport City Council at its March 22d meeting.

Silvie is nominated for a five year term. She is to replace attorney Mary Jackson whose term expired in February.

Silvie has been the principal of Cherokee Park Elementary School since 2017. She has a masters degree from Louisiana Tech University and an undergraduate degree from Grambling State University.

Silvie is also the CEO and founder of the R. Tammy Fleming Lupus Foundation and of Teaching and Learning Consultants. She previously served on Mayor Perkin's Transition Advisory Board.

Silvie joins a four person airport board that has had difficulty in complying with the Louisiana Open Meetings Law as well as retaining an Executive Director for the airport authority.
