A DISTRICT F CANDIDATE COULD BE ELECTED BY DEFAULT IF COUNCILMAN JAMES GREEN DISQUALIFIED

Qualifying for the Shreveport city council ends this Friday, July 22 at 4:30 p.m.

If only current council member James Green qualifies for a council seat, then he automatically wins the seat.

Once qualifying ends, a judicial challenge to the qualifications of a candidate must be filed in the Caddo District Court no later than Friday, July 29 at 4:30 p.m.

To understand better the process, here is an example:

a. assume  James Green  and person X are the only candidates who file the District F council seat;

b. then assume a voter in that district files a challenge to Green's candidacy;

c. if a court rules in favor of the voter, then Green is disqualified from the council election;

d. then the only candidate on the ballot for the District F council seat will then be person X.

e. person X wins the election.

f. if person X and person Y qualify against Green , in this fact scenario the election is between person X and person Y.

Many citizens for good government do not think Green has served the city well, much less his own district.

They are questioning if Green really resides in District F.

Thus, citizens for good government want Green to have opposition for many reasons.

And these same citizens will assist in an election challenge if Green has an opponent.
