Dr. Michael Carter, president of the Shreveport Police Officer's Association, issued a letter yesterday (Sept. 5) to Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins and the Shreveport City Council members stating the Associations's position on proposed changes in the city's health care plan for city employees which includes police and fire as well as retirees.

Carter says the association will begin a formal campaign against anyone who supports a plan to narrow the health care benefits that would cost plan participants more to stay with the Willis Knighton Health Care System.

Carter further stated that the Association "will litigate any and all matters that would stop the Health Care Trust Fund Board if it votes to increase costs when we use a local Doctor or Hospital."

The Board meets tomorrow (Wed.) at 3 p.m. at Riverview Hall on Clyde Fant Parkway. The meeting is open to the public and the public comments can be made at the beginning of the meeting.
