CADDO COMMISSIONER JACKSON RAISES CONCERNS OVER AMAZON TAX ABATEMENT
Is the Shreveport Amazon fulfillment center ever going to open and hire local employees?
If so, when?
That’s questions many citizens are asking including Caddo Commissioner Steven Jackson who raised these issues in yesterday's (Tues.) work session of the Caddo Commission.
Jackson noted that Amazon received ad valorem tax abatements from the parish based upon the touted employment of 1800 workers in fall of last year.
Commission administrator Dr. Woody Wilson advised that the next conference call with Amazon officials would be in March. He also stated that the latest information was that Amazon would begin hiring this fall.
Jackson's concerns have merit.
The national media has reported that the opening of many fulfillment centers across the nation have been delayed along with construction of additional fulfillment centers.
