TERMINATION OF COUNCIL CLERK FLEMING PROVES THAT COUNCIL CLERK'S OFFICE WAS OVERSTAFFED

The Shreveport City Council Clerk office now has four full time, highly paid employees after the termination of then council clerk Shanerika Fleming. The brouhaha over the termination has faded for many reasons. including the following:

1. Fleming's allegations of impropriety have not been supported by factual revelations.

2. Disclosure by this author that the workload of the council staff is much less than that of the Caddo Commission Clerk' office with a total staff of three or the Bossier Council Clerk Office.

3. The output of work by the council clerk's office has not diminished in quality or quantity since Fleming's departure, and the staff reduction.

4. The continuing questions as to why R. J. Johnson was added to the council clerk payroll and what he actually does, work wise, for the council other than appear at meetings sloppily attired with a non professional appearance and demeanor.

The council will soon review the proposed 2024 budget which will include moneys for the council clerk's office. Hopefully the reduction of full-time staff to four, with no pay raises, will be enacted. If not, the council will lose more credibility at a time when it is at an all-time low.
