I have known Sam Jenkins for over 30 years, and the same with Cedric Glover. Both Jenkins and Glover are in a run-off election this Sat. to replace Greg Tarver in Senate District 39. Tarver is termed out.
I have followed Jenkins and his service as a Caddo Parish Commissioner, a Shreveport City Councilman and a State Representative. I have followed Glover as a Shreveport City Councilman, Shreveport mayor and State Representative.
I have also worked with Jenkins as an attorney during the time that I practiced law.
Sam is my man for State Senator for many reasons:
1. Sam has a documented work ethic.
2. Sam has a reputation for returning calls, texts, and emails.
3. Sam has had a real job practicing law and has maintained law practice while serving in public elected positions.
4. Sam regularly attends Legislature committee meetings and sessions of the Legislature.
5. Sam has a well-deserved reputation for working with all the legislators without regard to party affiliation.
I don't decide my vote and my endorsement based on other endorsements. However, I find it very noteworthy that Sam has the endorsement of Senator Tarver. He also has the endorsement of Republican James Slagle who finished third in the primary, finishing only 81 votes behind Glover. Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator has also endorsed Sam. And Sam's website lists over 50 ministers who have endorsed him.
Bottomline Sam is a working citizen public servant. Glover is a career politician. I like people who earn high grades based on their work ethic, responsiveness, and humble nature. Sam fills all those squares and more. I urge you to vote for Jenkins this Sat. for Senate District 39.
