SHREVEPORT POLICE SERGEANT INJURED WHILE ASSISTING MOTORIST
Last night at 11:34 p.m. Sergeant Marcus Hines assisted a stalled motorist on I-49 north just before the I-20 east/westbound exit ramps.
While blocking traffic in a marked Shreveport Police Unit with active overhead lighting, Sergeant Hines’ unit was struck by a 2015 Audi which was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.
Sergeant Hines was transported to a local hospital. The Kia Forte that Sergeant Hines was assisting was also struck and those occupants were transported to Ochsner LSU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Crash Investigations unit responded and worked the crash.
The driver of the Audi was transported to Ochsner and impairment is suspected.
