BAGLEY TRAGEDY AINT NO MEMPHIS AND THE ISSUE IS A BAD COP, NOT RACE

Seemingly several citizens are trying to equate the Alonzo Bagley shooting with the Memphis police death. Even council member Tabatha Taylor made that innuendo at the press conference charade yesterday.

It’s really sad that these individuals want to play race politics to advance their own agenda.

Let’s go over some facts.

HERE ARE FACTS:

1. A domestic violence call was made to the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) on Friday Feb. 3.

2. Two SPD officers responded to the call.

3. Alonzo Bagley ran from the officers when they arrived at the residence and jumped off a carport roof to avoid apprehension.

4. Bagley was shot by Officer Tyler with a service revolver.

5. Tyler and the other officer then provided first aid assistance until EMTs arrived.

6. The Louisiana State Police (LSP) were on the scene investigating that night BEFORE Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith arrived at the scene.

7. Tyler was promptly placed on paid administrative leave as per SPD policy.

8. LSP is handling the investigation as per SPD policy.

9. Tyler is white, and Bagley was an African American.

10. LSP had a press conference Mon. (Feb. 6) stating that that it appeared that Bagley was unarmed.

11. LSP is continuing their investigation.

12. SPD and the City of Shreveport are fully cooperating with LSP.

HERE ARE SOME FACTS THAT LSP WILL MOST LIKELY UNCOVER AND REPORT:

A. Bagley had previously been the subject of a domestic violence call and he was arrested on three charges and he plead to one.

B. Officer Tyler was probably a bad hire by SPD.

C. Since joining the force Tyler performance was very poor.

D. Tyler engaged in an unwarranted very high-speed chase in a SPD vehicle on busy roadway that was unsuccessful. It is unknown if disciplinary action was taken.

E. In another instance Tyler ran an intersection at an unwarranted high speed in a SPD vehicle causing an accident that seriously injured citizens and caused substantial damage to both vehicles. It is unknown at this time if disciplinary action was taken.

F. On a subsequent date Officer Tyler used unreasonable force on a cuffed citizen that resulted in a 60 day suspension without pay.

G. Tyler probably should have been terminated from the SPD.

Let’s leave all the race insinuations out of the discussion until such time that LSP reports any race-based actions/words/social media posts by Tyler.

And let’s remember that the two top SPD officers happen to be African Americans and that their actions/inactions regarding Tyler may come into play.
