John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

BOUCHER VERUS JEFFERSON -- WHO WILL WIN SHREVEPORT CITY MARSHAL RACE?

Actually, there are four candidates in the race.

In reality only Grayson Boucher and James Jefferson are viable candidates.

The primary election is next Sat. Mar. 25.

Here is a comparison of these two candidates.

Boucher is a white Republican.

Jefferson is a black Democrat.

Boucher is in his second term as Shreveport city councilman from District D.

Jefferson has served as City Marshal since the untimely death of then marshal Charlie Caldwell in June of last year in a boating accident.

Boucher started his campaign in Jan. of this year.

Jefferson started his campaign shortly after Caldwell's death.

Boucher has raised $41,875 since he entered the race.

Jefferson has raised $42,660. Since Boucher got into the race, Jefferson has raised $13,330.

As of Mar. 5, Boucher had campaign funds on hand in excess of $17,000.

As of that date Jefferson had campaign funds of less than $10,100.

Boucher's maximum contributors of $2500 are: John Atkins, KDDT LLC., Ronald and Kim Wicker, Edward Crawford, and RKW Louisiana LLC.

Jefferson's maximum contributors of $2500 are: Mario Chavez, Farmers Seafood Co., Morris & Dewitt Trial Lawyers, Trey Morris, Rice & Kendig, and MO PAC.

Jefferson had a contribution of $2,125 from City Marshal Charlie Caldwell Campaign and a contribution by John Atkins of $2000.

Boucher had a contribution of $2000 from Richard and Tracy Taylor.

AT Management Services LLC, Kgawka Shihadeh, and Alexander Kennedy each donated $1500 to Jefferson.
