NEW ORLEANS CHARGES FOR FESTIVALS AT CITY PARK--WHY NOT SHREVEPORT?

City Park in New Orleans charges for certain sues of the park.

Photography and Film Permits--$75 per session.

Mobile Vendors --$25 permit fee plus 10% of gross revenues.

Commercial Activity--$25 permit fee, a rental fee based on park impact and park user impact, and 10% of gross revenues.

The City Park rental schedule is a good template for the City of Shreveport to utilize.

The website indicates that the Commercial Activity permits are required for non-profit and for profit entities.

CRAWFEST utilized more than 50% of the park area.

Additionally, the two parking areas in the park were filled with festival goers. Thus, families wanting to access the playground area adjacent to Line Ave. had extreme difficulty in parking in these two lots.

Thus, the park impact and park user impact of CRAWFEST was substantial. And since Betty Virginia Park is surrounded on all sides by residences, the impact on the residents was also substantial.
