LIGHTING ON i-20, i-49, AND 3132, BLIGHT REMEDIATION AND STREET REPAIRS NEED APPROVAL BY SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL

The Shreveport city council has a work session this next Mon. (May 8) and the regular meeting on Tues. (May 9).

Mayor Arceneaux's proposed $11.5 million public works ordinances will be on the agenda for the fourth time.

The mayor has proposed the following:

•$9.5 million for street repairs utilizing a list prepared in 2020

•$1.5 million for blight remediation

•$500,000 for lighting on I-20, I-49, and 3132.

Seemingly all Shreveporters agree that these expenditures are needed. In fact, they most likely all would agree that they are long overdue.

Hopefully any final questions can be quickly resolved at the Mon. work session with prompt approval on Tues.

All council members have promised to move the city forward, and votes on this proposal would certainly send that message.
