TO DATE THE CADDO SHERIFF'S RACE IS ALL ABOUT WHITEHORN

Qualifying for the Oct. primary is less than two weeks away--Aug. 8 - Aug. 10.

Henry Whitehorn has had a public announcement at a press conference.

Eric Hatfield has made a FaceBook announcement.

John Nickelson has released a press statement that was published in the Sun. edition of the Shreveport Times. He followed up the next day (Mon.) with a live KEEL interview with Sheriff Steve Prator on the Mike and McCarty Morning Show.

Whitehorn has a campaign FB page.
So does Hatfield.

Whitehorn has had several fund-raising events.

Whitehorn has had yard sign drops and is now running billboards.

Whitehorn has run TV ads, and perhaps radio as well.

To date the Nickelson campaign has had a very low as in almost invisible presence.

The Committee to Elect John Nickelson has is a donation website. (The committee is not named.).

The primary election is only nine weeks after qualifying ends--Oct. 14.

The general election/run-off election is Nov. 18.
This summer time political lull is not unprecedented.

Record breaking heat and the last few weeks for vacation before the early Aug. school first days has been the priority of most citizens and politicos.

Nonetheless candidates for Juvenile Court judge, local state senate and representative have started their campaigns, several of which were launched several months ago.

Reportedly, no donation solicitation letters have been sent out by Nickelson.

Nor have any endorsement mailings been sent by Prator, who returned $300 thousand after deciding to not seek re-election.

Nickelson has many responsibilities as a husband, a father of four, clients in his law practice and a law associate running for judge.

A parish-wide campaign by a late to the party candidate is no easy challenge, and there are quiet mutterings questioning the viability of a Nichelson campaign.

Its still a little early in the political season, but as Yogi Berra once said "its getting late early."
