WANT TO LEARN WHY THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION IS RAISING MONEY FOR MEGA MILLIONAIRE? GO TO OPEN HOUSE ON SEPT. 12

The Community Foundation is raising money for New Orleans blue blood John Georges. His net worth is reported to be $350 million.

He owns newspapers in New Orleans (2), Baton Rouge and Arcadian along with Shreveport.

The Foundation is seeking donations for a journalism fund. All of the money goes to underwrite the Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate, owned by Georges.

Yes, you can give a check to the Community Foundation and get a tax deduction. Then the Foundation sends the money to the mega millionaire.

Hmmm--is that legal? Get a tax deduction to give money to a for-profit business?

Community Foundations' executive director Kristin Gustavson has refused to answer questions about this journalism fund.

Maybe the Foundation's esteemed Board could speak up? Readers can contact Jerry Edwards, Lisa Cronin, Wanda Thomas, Lisa Childs, Glenn Kinsey, and/or Stephen Walker.

The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate's office is on the ground floor of Louisiana Tower--conveniently located near the office of the Community Foundation.

The Advocate is having an open house on Sept. 12, 5- 7 p.m. This could be a great time to ask the staff of the Advocate why they are getting a special privilege from the Community Foundation.

Who knows, maybe big buck Georges will be present along with Gustavson.
