Blue Line Solutions has a very profitable, exclusive contract with the city of Shreveport for school zone speed cameras.
Most Shreveport citizens are familiar with the cameras as well as the consequences for speeding during these school zones during the school year.
One constant complaint of ticketed citizens is no local Blue Line office for citizens to contact concerning speeding tickets, the school zone lights and signs, etc.
The city of Shreveport has offered office space in the Shreveport Police Headquarters building on Texas Ave. for Blue Line in July.
SPD Chief Wayne Smith advised the council on Tues. that Blue Line had NOT contacted his office regarding renovation of space for an office.
Now that school is starting, tickets will be mailed to motorists and Blue Line will NOT have a local representative to review citizen complaints/concerns.
The Blue Line contract requires the company to install, at no cost to the City, license plate readers (LPRs) at locations selected by SPD.
Chief Smith advised the council that a list has been sent to Blue Line.
Again, crickets from Blue Line.
It’s time for the Blue Line to be called on the carpet.
Council president James Green is urged to demand a representative be at the next council meeting to answer questions.
Additionally. Mayor Arceneaux should take steps to enforce the provisions of the contract concerning installation of the license plate readers.
Blue Line makes big bucks from its contract with Shreveport. it certainly has the resources to man an office here at SPD headquarters and promptly install the license plate readers.
