SHOULD GOVERNOR LANDRY APPOINT ERNIE ROBERSON TO CADDO ELECTIONS BOARD OF SUPERVISORS?
The Caddo Board of Supervisors has been in the news--and not in a good way since the debacle
concerning absentee ballots in the Caddo Sheriff run off election on Nov. 18.
This board is composed of five people: Caddo Clerk of Court, Caddo Registrar of Voters, the Caddo Democratic Party appointee, the Caddo Republican Party appointee, and an appointee of the Governor.
There is no doubt that Louisiana's new governor Jeff Landry will make an appointment in the near future to replace John Bel's appointee Brenda Taylor , who is the President of the Board. Not only is Taylor a Democrat, but her testimony at the hearing on the one vote election margin was pathetic at best and clearly indicated that there were many problems with the absentee ballots. To make matters worse, after the trial she had an exhaustive FaceBook post touting the merits of sheriff candidate Henry Whitehorn.
Ernie Roberson served as the Caddo Registrar of Voters for almost 30 years before his retirement in 2019.
During his tenure there were no major problems with Caddo elections. Undoubtedly Roberson has a wealth of practical knowledge that would be beneficial to the Board, and the integrity of future Caddo elections.
