BOSSIER CITY MOVES TO SHUT DOWN TWO SLUM MOTELS NEAR LIVE! CASINO

At the direction of Bossier City, SWEPCO cut off electricity yesterday to Bossier Extended Stay and Oyo Hotel.

Bossier officials cited a code violation prohibiting guests from staying longer than 30 days. Notice was given to both hotels/motels before the power termination.

The Bossier Extended Stay faces I-20. Its address is Live! Casino Boulevard. This facility has been in decay for many years.

Oyo Hotel is also on Live! Casino Boulevard and it is practically adjacent to the new Live! Casino facility. Like the Extended Stay, this facility is in extremely poor condition.

Both of these facilities represent eyesores to motorists traveling I-20. Additionally, the appearance and maintenance of the buildings as well as the nature of their guests will be detrimental to Live! Casino when it opens in the first quarter of next year.

No doubt there will be concerted action by Bossier City Hall to have these buildings demolished or entirely rehabbed in the near future. This effort is needed for the economic prosperity of Bossier City.
