SENATOR SAM JENKINS URGES NATIONAL SEARCH FOR DDA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The hiring of the next DDA Executive Director is one of the most important hires in recent city history. We have to get it right. That is why I am urging the DDA Board to undertake a national search to hire an experienced Executive Director with a proven track record in revitalizing downtown business districts.

That means hiring someone with the education and work experience to develop a business district that includes residential living and entertainment. Local applicants should be considered, but urged to commit to bringing on board people with the professional skills to develop a downtown business and entertainment district.

Louisiana is receiving billions of dollars in infrastructure funding over the next several years Downtown is a part of Senate District 39, and I am excited to work with a visionary DDA CEO to take advantage of this once in a generation opportunity to rebuild our downtown. Therefore, I not only urge the Board to conduct a national search but offer a competitive salary.
