DOES SHREVEPORT NEED A HEALTHCARE AND INNOVATION DISTRICT AND/OR AN I-20 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT?

Newbie State Representative Steven Jackson thinks so.

He has introduced House Bill 307 to create the Healthcare and Innovation District and House Bill 295 to create the I-20 Economic District.

Not surprisingly, Jackson would be able to nominate a board member for each district if the bills are passed in their current form. Each district would be political subdivision.

Jackson has also introduced House Bill 254, which would give him an appointment nomination for the DDA Board.

For those that carefully followed Jackson's career as a Caddo Commissioner, it’s well known that "Scheming Steven" has often pushed measures that would benefit him and his cronies.

All of these bills should bear close scrutiny by all the entities affected as well as good government entities and proponents.
