HATS OFF TO ALL WHO ARE ASSISTING IN RELOCATION OF APARTMENT RESIDENTS

The forced evacuation of the residents of Jolie, The Pines, and Villa Norte apartment residents by May 31 has been well documented.

A massive relocation effort spearheaded by the Mayor Tom Arceneaux and his administration has now pulled in many local agencies and local businesses as well as private citizens.

At the risk of overlooking an agency or party, here are those I know:
1. Mayor Tom Arceneaux
2. Bonnie Moore, Shreveport Community Development director, and her staff
3. The Providence House
4. The Shreveport Housing Authority
5. The Shreveport City Council which has allocated $65,000 for moving and relocation expenses
6. The United Way Financial Empowerment Center
7. U-Haul Company of Northern Louisiana
8. SporTran
9. The Power Coalition
10. Private citizens

This combined effort is a very commendable effort by Mayor Arceneaux and his staff, Shreveport department heads, non-profit entities, local businesses, and private citizens. Collectively these actions speak highly of Shreveport and its citizens.

My thanks to all involved in this process.
