It’s no surprise that Shreveport councilman James Green pushed behind the scenes for the City of Shreveport to offer a financial settlement to former council clerk Shanerika Flemings after she was terminated on a 4-3 council vote in September of last year. Thankfully Green's lobbying of at least one council member and most likely the mayor fell flat.

Green  preaches racial neutrality from his council seat although he is probably the most racist council member. Actually, it may be a tie vote between Green and his church member council member Tabatha Taylor who also pushes black racism behind the scenes and in poorly veiled maneuvers at the council meeting.

Green was the council president when Flemings was both hired and fired. On the day the motion was made to terminate Flemings, Green allowed her to read a disparaging statement from the horseshoe. Both the statement and the actions of Green allowing it to be read are in violation of the council rules of procedure and Robert's Rules of Order.

Green, who has labeled himself as "a certain person", acts as it the Council is his church--that being whatever he says goes. He has evidenced this perception of entitlement when he barged into a local retail store and then was cited by Shreveport Police Department. And again, when he was stopped for a darkly tinted windows by a white SPD officer, Green again insisted that he was above law.

Both Green and Taylor refused to endorse the three bond packages which were passed by record voter approval this spring. This despite the fact that both of their council districts received substantial bond projects despite the fact that both districts pay the least amount of city ad valorem taxes.

Flemings filed her litigation in the Caddo district court, asking for a jury trial. The case is assigned to Judge Chris Victory. It is very unlikely that the case will go to trial this year. Now that litigation has been filed neither Green nor Taylor should be making any public or private statements about the case.
