SIX BLACK CADDO COMMISSIONERS SPEND OVER $17 GRAND TO ATTEND BLACK CONFERENCE

Six of the seven African American Caddo Commissioners attended a National Organization of Black County Officials conference in Atlanta last month: Roy Burrell, Ken Epperson, Greg Young, Stormy Gage-Watts, Steffon Jones and Victor Thomas.

Reportedly, the only reason that Commissioner Ron Cothran did not attend was his wedding.

None of the Commissioners has publicly released a white paper report--perhaps more accurately referred to as a "black paper" report-- on what they learned that will assist in their discharge of their duties.

The total tab to Caddo Parish was a tad over $17,000, which included registration fees.

Not surprisingly, the big spenders were  Commissioner Roy Burrell ($3,475) followed closely by Commissioner Ken Epperson ($3,332). Newbie Commissioner Greg Young, a former postmaster, had expenses of $3,142.
