Ugh!
It’s all I can say.
On Saturday (July 6), a 14-year-old male was killed at a community gathering at Bilberry Park over headphones. Reportedly, he refused to return the headphones to the owner who promptly shot him in the chest killing him before he fled.
On Friday (June 28), Shreveport Police attempted a traffic stop on Amherst Street. The car refused to stop, and a chase ended on West Canal Blvd where the driver exited the car, pointing a rifle at the pursuing officer. Ultimately, a 14-year-old was arrested with the rifle and charged with aggravated assault upon a police officer, aggravated flight, and resisting an officer.
Details on both instances are limited due to age of persons involved and the fact that the shooter has yet be arrested.
But I can only wonder why a young teenage is killed over headphones. And how does a 14-year-old have a rifle, much less be driving a car?

I am not a psychiatrist.
But I am a shocked, disturbed, concerned, and worried parent and grandparent living in Shreveport about a 20-minute drive from these two crime locations.
Hopefully, you as a reader share my emotions.
