CAN RENEWED EFFORT TO KEEP SHREVEPORT "CLEAN" CONTINUE?

One of the many positives of the just completed Humor & Harmony Festival were the many efforts to clean up Shreveport, and especially the downtown area. These were spearheaded by Shreveport Green, The Rotary Club of Shreveport, the Downtown Development Authority and other groups as well as downtown property owners. SPAR played a big part, especially in the Red River District and the grassy areas in the downtown area.

Many citizens stated that downtown and the Red River District were as clean (and attractive) as they can remember. Undoubtedly, this cleaning effort helped put the city's best foot forward for Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and the thousands who attended the various festival events.

Can this "keep clean" momentum continue? Civic pride is an intangible that is greatly affected by visual attractiveness. Cleanliness fosters cleanliness and filth fosters filth. What will citizens and businesses choose as a new mode of operations?
