WHAT SALARY WILL NEW CADDO SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT BE PAID
The Advocate recently made an analysis of the salaries of Louisiana school superintendents based on information filed with the Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office and data from AASA (The School Superintendent's Association).
In the 2022-2023 school year, the average base pay of Louisiana public school superintendents was just under $169,00. This amount is slightly higher than their national counterparts.
AASA reported that the national median salary is about $258,000 for districts with 25,000 to 50,000 students. The student population of the Caddo schools is approximately 33,000.
Dr. Lamar Goree resigned earlier this year to take a job in Texas. When Goree left Caddo, his salary was $268,718. When coupled with supplements and incentives, his total salary for the last fiscal year was $274,947. His benefits package, including health insurance and retirement, was valued at $87,718.
The only candidate to be interviewed by the Caddo School Board is Chief Academic Officer Keith Burton. His current salary including state and local stipends and supplements is $138,824. His benefits package, including the employer's share of health insurance and retirement is valued at $52,295.
Assuming that Burton is selected as the next superintendent, the Board will negotiate his salary. The total salary package will most likely include additional pay based on performance goals and subsequent job evaluations.
