The Caddo School Board meets tomorrow Wednesday(Sept.25) in a special session at 1:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the confirmation of Keith Burton as the new Caddo School Superintendent.

It’s a good time--actually a GREAT TIME--for the Board to approve Burton with a unanimous vote. His opponents have had their say at board meetings and in court. Hopefully, all the naysayers will stay quiet.

There is time to disagree and a time to unite. And the time to disagree really has passed. If Caddo public education is really one's goal, then drop the bitch and get on the train.

Hopefully, Darrin Dixon, who is resigning at months in to go to Baton Rouge, will vote for Burton this time. It will speak well of him to end his board service by supporting Burton.

And as far as Terrence Vinson, he should just stay home for several reasons. Initially, he no longer lives in the district he was elected to represent. Secondly, he gave a ZERO score to all the six recommended candidates. And lastly, he was a plaintiff in the unsuccessful ligation to upend the selection process.

At a time when racial division is hindering so many governmental entities, the school board can set an example that Caddo citizens can commend. To do less is a poor reflection on any board member, both personally and as an elected official.
